The High Court has on Wednesday freed Nancy Kigunzu, popularly known as Mathe wa Ngara, after overturning a previous decision that denied her bond. Justice James Wakiaga ruled the lower court did not provide sufficient reasons to continue holding her, especially considering she has already spent time in remand over earlier drug-related cases. Mathee, who has been in custody since August this year, faces charges of possessing more than 18 kilograms of cannabis, valued at six million shillings. Details in the Scales of Justice Segment.
