    The Ministry of Health has finalized a plan focused on preventing preterm births, a significant cause of neonatal deaths. According to statistics from the Ministry of Health, 92 children are born prematurely every day in Kenya.During celebrations to mark World Prematurity Day at Murang’a Level 5 hospital, Director of Health Products and Technologies, Dr. Nazila Ganatra, said the plan dubbed National Every Woman Every Newborn (EWENE) prioritizes facility readiness, health-worker capacity buildig, family support, and public accountability. Neonatal mortality accounts for 51 percent of deaths of children under the age of 5 and 66 percent of infant deaths in the country.
