Learners at MCEDO Beijing School in Nairobi’s Mathare settlement are set for a major uplift after the Chinese Embassy in Kenya and the Kenya China Economic and Trade Association extended an additional 11 million shillings in new support to the institution. Chinese ambassador to Kenya Guo Haiyan said the fresh boost, on top of previous donations, will fund school renovations, learning materials and scholarships for vulnerable children, in a community where poverty still threatens many children’s education.
