It was a sigh of relief to residents of Kibiko, Ngong in Kajiado West after they received allotment letters for their ancestral land following two decades of leadership wrangles, confusion, anxiety and insecurity. In the recent past, the area has witnessed rampant insecurity pitting land owners and alleged cartels, who locals claim have been working in cohorts with a section of local leaders to grab the land. The residents say the intervention by the Ministry of Land will help restore security. In the first phase, 4,600 allotment letters were issued, with beneficiaries optimistic that title deed processing will be expedited.
