Civil Society Organisations in the country have renewed calls for accountability in governance by the East African Community member states. The CSOs among them the Kenya Human Rights Commission and Transparency International decried what they described as a growing trend of transnational repression within the East African Community, referring to the alleged violation of human rights during the Tanzania’s October general elections as well as the case where two Kenyans were recently detained in Uganda. The human rights defenders who spoke at Raila’s gravesite in Bondo, Siaya County, further challenged the EAC member states to embrace the leadership of accountability.
