Govt embarks on robust exercise to eliminate ghost workers from payroll

The government has embarked on a robust exercise to eliminate ghost workers from the public sector payroll. Speaking during the 6th Human Resource Circle of Excellence Awards 2025 in Nairobi, the principal secretary in the State Department of Public Service and Human Capital Dr. Jane Imbunya said the exercise is a legacy project intended to improve efficiency in the public service sector. The Institute of Human Resource Management's national chairman Philip Odero said the Human Resource Management Council has approved a 100 percent waiver of all membership fee arrears accumulated up to and including the year 2024.
