    The government has reiterated the need to invest in Agriculture, tax reforms, innovation and technology to generate its own resources and stop overreliance on foreign aid. Speaking in Nairobi during the inaugural summit and launch of the 10-year strategic plan of the African Economic Research Consortium, the principal secretary for economic planning, Dr Boniface Makokha, also called for embedding research in development planning. The consortium seeks to strengthen local capacity for independent and rigorous research on African economic management.
