Scientists across the world are racing against time to find new treatments for bacteria that no longer respond to commonly used antibiotics. Here in Kenya, the Kenya Medical Research Institute KEMRI is leading a major study targeting newborns who face the highest risk of deadly infections. Babies aged 28 days and below are the most vulnerable to neonatal sepsis a bacterial infection in the blood that can cause organ failure and death within hours if untreated.
