A new national climate governance study has revealed that Kenya’s climate change laws fail to recognise women environmental defenders despite their critical role in protecting communities. The report, unveiled in Nairobi by the Women Human Rights Defenders Hub, shows that women who expose harmful projects, mobilise residents, and safeguard local resources are shut out of decision-making spaces, even though Kenya is bound by international treaties that acknowledge their contributions.
