A section of the Kenya Union of Post-Primary Education Teachers, in Machakos County, has called on the government to confirm intern teachers in junior secondary for permanent and pensionable terms. Led by Machakos branch vice chair Yvonne Musyoka, the group wants autonomy for junior secondary teachers to manage their activities effectively. Also, the group threatened to hold a nationwide strike in January if all their demands were not met.
