Residents of Narok South have vowed to continue their tree-planting efforts in the Maasai Mau Forest as part of a wider initiative to restore water-catchment areas.Speaking as they expressed gratitude to Base Titanium for training them in tree-nursery management and modern beekeeping, members of the Kirobon Community-Based Organisation (CBO) said the environmental program has transformed their livelihoods while helping the forest recover. According to the group’s chairman, Wycliffe Kimutai, the eviction of settlers from the Maasai Mau Forest initially shattered their hopes and left them uncertain about their future. Members say apart from forest restoration efforts, the trainings have helped youths in economic empowerment, thus avoiding engaging in unlawful activities.
