Kisii University in Kisii county has launched a daycare and lactation centre as part of a supportive environment for employees in order to boost their productivity and retention.
Speaking during the launch at the institution in the outskirts of Kisii town, Kisii University Council Chairperson Dr. Sara Ruto said the initiative was in line with the Health Act of 2017, which calls upon employers to provide the facility for breastfeeding employees.
Dr. Ruto noted the facility will offer a chance for the community members to build a strong foundation for their children during the key stages of their development.
The Chairperson encouraged the Department of Early Childhood Education to utilize the facility for practical learning, adding that it would help to bridge the gap between academic theory and practicals.
