Laikipia County Government is stepping up efforts to eliminate maternal deaths by urging mothers to seek skilled care during childbirth at local health facilities.The push is part of the county’s wider strategy to reduce maternal deaths to zero, with key emphasis on ensuring trained professionals oversee every delivery process. Speaking during the handover of maternal health equipment donated by the Rotary Club of Muthaiga North at Rumuruti Health Centre, County Executive Committee Member for Health. Albert Taiti highlighted the critical role of skilled care in safeguarding the health of both mothers and newborns, noting that while Laikipia County has achieved over 80 percent skilled deliveries, more still needs to be done to close the glaring gap.
