Health authorities in Nandi County have rolled out a cancer awareness campaign in all health facilities across the county, to encourage early treatment and prevent further spread of the disease in infected persons. Nandi County chief medical officer in charge of cancer treatment, Patrick Kenei, has also confirmed that plans are ongoing to conduct a research on the influx in cancer cases in the region.Kenei confirmed that Kapsabet Referral Hospital receives more than five patients monthly who present with various forms of cancer. He urged residents to enroll to the Social Health Authority, maintain a balanced diet, and engage in regular exercise to help control such diseases. Meanwhile, cycling enthusiasts in Kapsabet town, Nandi County, took part in a 70km cycling challenge to raise awareness on breast cancer and cancer screening benefits.
