The government has asked striking university lecturers to go back to work. Speaking in Mombasa Cabinet Secretary for Education Julius Ogamba warned that the court has already declared the strike, which began last week illegal. The CS noted that the disbursement of the 2.73 billion shillings is a commitment by the government to dialogue as they work to resolve the other pending demands. In a rejoinder, UASU says it will not go back to class until the full payment of the 2017-2021 CBA arrears and negotiations and signing of the 2025-2029 CBA begin noting the implementation of the latter was to begin 1st July 2025.
