Cabinet Secretary for health Aden Duale has maintained that the ministry shall ensure that those behind fraudulent claims are brought to book. CS Duale who appeared before senate Wednesday morning said Kenyans should expect to see big people taken to court in the course of the week following the 118 files the ministry had forwarded to the Directorate of Criminal Investigation. CS Duale was also tasked to explain the rate of rejected claims from public health facilities to the Social Health Authority as senators indicated the numbers are high. Duale however defended the Linda Jamii program as a more comprehensive with better tariffs and benefits on healthcare delivery services compared to the phased out Linda Mama programme. He said normal deliveries under SHA pays 10,000 and 30,000 for ceasarian contrary to 2500 and 22,000 respectively paid under Linda Mama. He however expressed disappointment that the ministry still relies on 2014 data that shows 355 maternal deaths every year for every 100,000 deliveries.
