It was pomp and colour as four world champions returned home Tuesday afternoon with five gold medals from the just concluded World Athletics Championships in Tokyo, Japan, with a rapturous reception from family, friends, and government officials who turned up at the JKIA to welcome them home. Beatrice Chebet with two gold medals in 5000m and 10000m, Lillian Odira and Emmanuel Wanyonyi, who bagged gold in 800m, and Faith Kipyegon, with 1500m gold and another silver in 5000m, were in the last group of Team Kenya, which finished 2nd at the championships with 7 gold, 2 silver, and 2 bronze medals.
