Mt. Kenya bears brunt as survey shows deepening economic pain under Ruto

A new TIFA survey has revealed that residents of Mt Kenya are experiencing the harshest economic hardships since President William Ruto took office in September 2022. According to the poll released on September 11, 2025, 85 per cent of respondents from the region said their household economic situation has worsened over the past three years, with only 3 per cent reporting any improvement. Nairobi followed closely, with 74 per cent citing financial decline.
