Parents from Mukuru slums are now seeking government intervention over the lack of public schools, which has led to underperformance. Students from the area have been unable to access schools due to high school fees charged by private schools.
The prevailing situation has seen some students resort to drug abuse and crime. The area residents are now demanding the construction of more public schools, stating that there are only two public schools in Mukuru and seven public schools in the entire Embakasi South.
