A change of plans marked the arrival of the body of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga in Kisumu County Saturday morning. The military helicopter carrying the remains of the late former premier touched down at the Kisumu International Airport at 7.20 a.m., under tight security, with expectations high among thousands of mourners who had gathered to witness the procession to the Jomo Kenyatta International Stadium in Mamboleo. However, in what appeared to be last-minute adjustments, perhaps to avert any delays due to the large crowd that had gathered, the body was airlifted to Mamboleo for public viewing, leaving many at the airport emotional after missing the chance to pay their final respects there.
