A section of Members of County Assembly in West Pokot are demanding the immediate arrest of leaders in Turkana County, whom they have accused of incitement leading to the escalation of killings at Lopermoi village in Rumos, Morita and Sarmach areas along the West Pokot - Turkana borders.West Pokot County Assembly MCAs led by the Deputy Speaker Victor Siywat have condemned the killings and urged the authorities to arrest and prosecute leaders from the neighboring county for reckless utterances, which they say have sparked the border killings. Siywat further accused the leaders of plotting to acquire land in the area by fuelling the chaos. In recent weeks, several people have been shot dead while tension remains high, with residents fleeing the region. Police officers have been sent to the region to quell the violence.
