Idadi ya mijusi iliyokuwa hatarini kutoweka yashangaza wahifadhi
Wahifadhi wa mazingira wanasema kwamba idadi ya mijusi mikubwa waliokaribia kutoweka katika visiwa vya Galapagos imeongezeka.
Mijusi hawa, ambao ni wa kawaida katika visiwa vya pwani ya Ecuador, walikaribia kutoweka kati ya 1970 na 1980 kutokana na kupelekwa kwa wanyama kama mbuzi na mbwa.
Mbuga ya Kitaifa ya Galapagos inaripoti kwamba idadi ya sasa ya iguana wa njano “inaridhisha,” kutokana na jitihada za kuhifadhi.
