Kenya Commercial Bank has started the process of settling hundreds of squatters in a 1,145-acre piece of land which previously belonged to the East Africa Portland Cement Company at Mavoko Constituency, Machakos County.Speaking during a public sensitization program, the bank’s leadership said, the first phase will entail KES 200,000 registration fee for squatters who have already settled on the land, valuation, zoning and survey of the land. A move hailed by Mavoko Member of Parliament Patrick Makau. The squatters have also urged the Bank to consider tough economic times and already existing investment costs among the settled low income earners.
