Busia County government in partnership with the European Union has conducted a sign language training for medical practitioners in bid to break the communication barrier between the medics and patients with hearing impairment.Speaking during the three-day training at Malaba, Edward Okinda,a pharmacist at the County referral hospital said the training will equip the medics with basic sign language skills with the help of interpreting devices which will enhance efficient service delivery. European Union experts have emphasized the need for policy amendment in order to integrate sign language in schools.
