The government remains cagey about its involvement in the abduction of Uganda’s opposition leader, Kizza Besigye, just days after Ugandan officials claimed that Kenya was fully aware of a plan to abduct Besigye, citing intelligence correspondence aimed at tracking him down. Speaking publicly on the matter for the first time, Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, who is also responsible for the Ministry of foreign affairs, carefully sidestepped direct questions about Kenya’s role in the incident. He refrained from providing clear answers on whether Kenya was involved and the motive, if so.
