Police constable Lilian Biwott has been sentenced to 35 years in jail after being found guilty of murder by the high court in Eldoret Uasin Gishu county. Biwott was found guilty of killing her spouse Victor Kipchumba in October 2023 at their Kimumu estate in Eldoret by shooting him 12 times, following a domestic dispute. Justice Reuben Nyakundi says the sentence should serve as a deterrence to those who opt for violence in domestic disputes, pointing out the escalating gender based violence cases in the country.
