A section of women from pastoral communities in Northern Kenya have embraced cricket farming as a source of proteins to diversify products for sustainability.The project which is spearheaded by the Catholic Organization for Relief and Development in collaboration with International Centre for Insect Physiology and Ecology says the initiative has helped women in the semi arid regions to change their financial fortunes. Cricket farming is not only a source of livelihood but also a source of boosting nutrition owing to its protein value in the wake of changing climate conditions.
