When Francis Nderitu observed there was a critical gap in the fish distribution chain he introduced a company that would help preserve fish while boosting revenue generation for the fisherfolk. He called it Keep it Cool.
Keep it Cool has provided solar-powered refrigeration and smart distribution solutions for small farmers and fishers across Kenya, extending the shelf life of their produce.
It also focuses on cutting down on food waste to more sustainable future for communities.
This initiative has seen KIC win the 2024 Earthshot Prize in the 'Build a Waste-Free World' category.
