Residents of Nyahururu town in Laikipia County have finally endorsed the construction of an electric fence along the Marmanet forest after a resident was killed by an elephant last Sunday. The construction of the 20-kilometre fence stalled mid-last year after a section of residents evicted surveyors claiming they would lose their farms to the forest. Kenya Wildlife Service Assistant Director in charge of Mountain Conservation Area Lucy Muita says that 400 kilometers of fence stretching across five counties has been completed.
