Chaos in Pumwani-Majengo: Community demands justice after police shootings leave three dead

Pain, grief and anger swept through Pumwani-Majengo area in Nairobi as residents took to the streets to protest the fatal shooting of a 17-year-old boy during a police operation last night. Ibrahim Chege, a form four student, was shot in the head alongside his friend, who also lost his life. today’s demonstrations quickly turned chaotic as businesses came to a standstill, two police vehicles were set ablaze, and roads were barricaded. Tensions escalated further when police opened fire again, shooting another youth in the knee who later succumbed to his injuries, bringing the death toll to three. Meanwhile, Chege’s grieving family gathered at the Kenyatta National Hospital mortuary, demanding justice for their son.
