Two killed as protests rock Tanzania during elections, Dar es Salaam placed under curfew

Two people, a civilian and a police officer, were killed during election day protests in Tanzania with the government putting the city of Dar es Salaam under a 6 pm curfew, following a tense election day marked by demonstrations and unrest across parts of the country. Dar es Salaam Special Zone Police Commander Jumanne Muliro did not specify when the curfew is expected to be lifted. Dar es Salaam regional commissioner Alfred Chalamila said the police would take action against those who sought to disrupt the country's peace.
