Getongono water project : Gucha residents struggle to access safe water

A community water project in Gucha South, Kisii County, estimated to serve over 4,000 residents, remains uncommissioned despite being completed, prompting frustrated residents to appeal to authorities for urgent interventions.The Getongono Water Project in Moticho Ward, was completed in 2015 at a cost of Ksh.10 million but stalled due to an incorrect power installation and the absence of a management committee. Locals have expressed concerns over the lack of clean water, with women and children forced to walk long distances to access the essential commodity. Human rights activists and community leaders are calling on the county government to take immediate action to operationalize the project.
