Chief Justice Martha Koome has reaffirmed the independence of the Judiciary, stating that it is the foundation for upholding the rule of law and justice, as well as safeguarding the fundamental rights of Kenyans as enshrined in the constitution. Koome made these remarks during a meeting with the king of the Netherlands, Willem-Alexander, and his wife, where she emphasized that the judiciary should not be influenced by individuals or other institutions in the execution of its mandate.
