The Community AID Transformation Alliance Group in Homa Bay County have noted that efforts to address Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV) in the County are facing significant setbacks due to the persistence of kangaroo courts, which continue to obstruct justice for victims. They note that these informal courts often settle cases outside the formal judicial system, favouring perpetrators and discouraging victims from seeking legal redress. In response to address the issue, Community AID Transformation Alliance Group Program Coordinator, Basra Dahir, highlighted that the organization is focusing on creating awareness and engaging communities to challenge harmful cultural norms that prevent SGBV victims from seeking justice.
