A group of herbalists under the Kisii Herbalists Research Centre has petitioned the national government to expedite the passage of a bill currently before Parliament that seeks to recognize them as professionals in alternative medicine. The herbalists are advocating for the opportunity to serve in public hospitals alongside conventional doctors if the bill is enacted. Speaking at a funeral in Gesero, Kisii South, the group's chairman, Peter Nyoara, emphasized that their work should not be dismissed as sorcery. He argued that their services provide crucial healthcare options for many Kenyans.
