Often times humanity can draw lessons of vulnerability and resilience from the most unexpected quarters. At the heart of Nairobi’s Mathare slums, people both young and old who have left their homes for one reason or another and have instead opted to confront everyday challenges that the streets present, today offered hope and even dignity. As they marked the International Day for street children, they instead let their names stand for strength in the face of adversity and dreams only differed by their current circumstances.
