    Autism is condition characterised by challenges of social interaction, communication, and repetitive behaviours. A recent study by a university in the UK found children of Somali descent are six times more likely to be referred for the autism spectrum compared to their white or mixed-race peers. In Somali culture, parents feel there are many stigmas surrounding children with autism. The BBC’s Ash Mohamed spoke to activists in both Somalia and the UK on how they have overcome these challenges.
