Gaps in digital investigations, survivor support and cross-border cooperation have been cited as some of the factors hindering the fight against online sexual exploitation and abuse of women and girls in the country. Amanda Manyame, who is the Digital Law and Rights Advisor of Equality Now, a non-governmental organization advancing legal gender equality says survivor accounts reveal women are tricked with fake job offers, blackmailed, livestreamed during abuse, and trafficked across borders. The organization is calling for stronger digital forensic capacity, legal reforms, free legal aid, and trauma-informed support to deal with the menace.
