'What we want to build is bigger than basketball' - BBC Africa
The relationship between music and basketball is a long-standing tradition, with instances of basketball stars exploring music ventures and artists drawing inspiration from players. Very much two sides of the same coin, the fusion of music and basketball has a powerful impact.
It's no surprise that just like the NBA, Basketball Africa League @bal is leveraging on the power of music to grow the game of basketball on the continent. In just four seasons, The Basketball Africa League has added $250M to Africa’s GDP and created 37,000 jobs across the continent.
BBC Sport Africa’s Kelvin Kimathi looks at how the league is leveraging the power of Afrobeat’s to not only grow the game but also Africa’s creative economy.
