Deputy President Prof. Kithure Kindiki wants the Judiciary to clearly define the limits of its independence to deliver justice more efficiently and avoid halting government programmes meant to change livelihoods. Speaking at the Supreme Court in Nairobi, during the launch of the State of the Judiciary and Administration of Justice Report for the 2024/2025 financial year, Kindiki called for stronger collaboration across all arms of government to ensure justice is timely, predictable, and accessible to all Kenyans. The report records historic achievements, including a 104% case clearance rate, expanded court infrastructure in all 47 counties, and enhanced digitisation, but warns that progress remains threatened by funding shortages and a widening staffing gap. Ben Chumba reports.
