Lecturers and non-teaching staff from Kirinyaga University on Tuesday staged protests along the Kutus–Kerugoya highway demanding the release of Sh2.73 billion owed to them under the second phase of the 2021–2025 Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA). The demonstrators, who downed their tools, accused the government of failing to honor its obligations by issuing “mere promissory notes” instead of actual disbursement of funds. The workers maintained that without the release of the money, they would continue with industrial action until their demands were met.
