Residents of Malindi who will be found dumping waste in undesignated areas shall be arrested and prosecuted beginning next month. the move comes after Malindi municipal manager Johnson Mwabati announced that they have already acquired litter bins which will be installed in specific areas within the CBD and trading centres. speaking during the monthly cleanup exercise organized by the Progress Welfare Association of Malindi (pwam) area the manager said law enforcement officers will arrest anyone found littering in undesignated areas. he said they are currently waiting for governor Gideon mung'aro to officially launch the litter bins at the end of this month after which they will begin installing them.
