    The County government of Migori, in partnership with Restore Africa, has embarked on the restoration of degraded lands in the county as an effort to put more land into agriculture, ensuring food sustainability. The restoration initiative includes encouraging farmers to exploit other value chains, such as planting fruit trees and poultry farming has already kicked off in North Kadem and Kachieng wards in Nyatike Sub-County. While speaking during a farmers' field day in North Kadem, which aimed to engage farmers in the initiative, Kennedy Oyugi, the program coordinator, said that the program targets 14,000 farmers from the two wards as its initial step.
