Mitchell Cotts Container Freight Station has refuted claims that the consignment of sugar nabbed by the ports authority in October 2023 has been distributed to the market. Mitchell Cotts Operations Director James Rarieya says the sugar was certified safe for consumption when it left Mauritius, however, the cargo ship malfunctioned as it docked at the Port of Mombasa, logging thirteen containers in water hence damaging the cargo. As Juney Karisa reports the Kenya Bureau of Standards has taken samples of the over 2000 bags before they are released to the importer.
