Kibiko residents protest arrest of two people over ongoing land row

    Hundreds of residents from Kibiko in Kajiado County staged protests and blocked roads outside the Ngong Law Courts, demanding the release of two men arrested in connection with the ongoing land dispute. The two, Richard Karino and Nanta Ole Kipolonka, were arraigned in court facing charges of arson and causing disturbance during clashes between rival groups claiming ownership of the contested kibiko land. The protesters marched in rage, camping for hours outside the court's gate to express their displeasure with what they claimed to be a wrongful arrest of two individuals in connection with the Kibiko land dispute. The two suspects, who were arraigned virtually, were granted a cash bail of ksh 50,000 each or a bond of ksh 100,000.
