Children rights lobby group Save The Children International has partnered with Beacon Teachers Africa to train children on abuse, prevention skills and reporting in Embu County.According to the Save The Children International Project Coordinator Viellinah Gitau, gaps that exist in child abuse prevention such as a lack of deep understanding of their rights need to be addressed adding that cases of abuse of children including physical, emotional or sexual have been on the rise. Her sentiments were echoed by the founder of Beacon Teachers Africa Dr. Joan Mwende who reiterated the importance of empowering children.
