The government has announced a shift of focus to deflection initiatives and alternatives in place of the current incarceration program in dealing with individuals grappling with drug and substance addiction. National Authority for the Campaign Against Alcohol and Drug Abuse CEO Dr Anthony Omerikwa says the new approach will focus on diverting individuals struggling with the vice from the criminal justice system and instead offer them support through treatment counseling, and community-based interventions.
