Over 200 people have been left homeless following a fire outbreak at Maina slums in the outskirts of Nyahururu town in the wee hours of the morning. Residents recounted how they were forced out of bed at around 4.00am as the angry flames engulfed the wooden houses.

Efforts to salvage their property were hampered as the fire quickly spread. They are now calling on the government to assist them.
