Failure by expectant mothers to seek medical intervention early has been linked to increased cases of the cataract disease among new born babies in Samburu County. This was revealed by specialists at Samburu referral hospital hospital who conducted eye operations of six children aged between one and three . Doctors at the hospital have advised mothers to seek immediate medical care for their children who exhibit signs of the disease. Meanwhile, residents are urging the government to establish a specialized eye treatment facilty in Samburu County following the upsurge in the cataract disease which is putting many children at a risk of going blind.
