Mkunumbi residents in Lamu county have been challenged to adopt modern mangrove restoration and preservation methods for sustainability. This was the clarion call during a sensitization meeting by the Kenya Marine Research Institute, in collaboration with Wetlands International. According to Kenya Forest and environmental stakeholders, mangroves are critical habitats for marine species and provide breeding grounds for fish, crabs and are sources of honey hence the need to preserve them.
